Of course a random arrow would be a suprise whilst in a car, but it still almost hit him and if he'd been in his seat with his seatbelt on, he'd of been in slightly less danger. lol 14:46, there Conan goes. what i find hilarious is how the Pompadour Policeman and Kogorou ENTIRELY missed EVERY piece of evidence on the cliff except what they WANTED to find there. but i do think Conan messed up on some salient points too.

visibility of the sniper hide. sitting for a while in the open-air dining area would make you NIGHT-BLIND due to the lights in the 'garden'. also, without proper lighting the cliff across the river... depending on the distance from the 'garden'... would be almost black after dark.

accessing the sniper hide. without the rope ALREADY being attached to the tree climbing that cliff in the dark would be DEADLY! so coming from upstream in a boat and then getting up the cliff would not work. i suggest if the sniper hide is real, the rope was tied there first as an escape route. after firing the shot, the sniper left the rifle, picked up the deflated boat, clambered down the rope with a paddle and the boat on his/her back, inflated the raft with a CO2 cartridge, THEN floated down stream.

but we all know the sniper hide is a red-herring. the rope is soaking wet from the rain. the rifle is wet but the stone outcropping under the rifle was dry. so dry it obviously showed the outline of the rifle. the rain stopped WELL before the party in the 'garden' got started. so everything in the sniper hide was placed there BEFORE the party started or even before the rain started. if the ground wasn't dry, the rifle's outline wouldn't be on the stone outcropping.
